Throughout its existence, the Indianapolis Zoological Society has been the recipient of estate gifts that have allowed the Society to build exhibits and fund conservation and research efforts. The Laura Githens Smith Society was established in 1994 to recognize the donors of these estate gifts.
The society is named for Laura Githens Smith, a Chicago debuntante who came to Indianapolis in the early 1900s and supported various philanthropic causes. Laura Githens Smith Society members are individuals who have included the Zoological Society in their estate plans.
To become a part of this living legacy, please notify the planned-giving office in writing that you have included the Zoo in your estate plans. If you have questions, please call (317) 630-2709 or e-mail giftplanning@indyzoo.com.
